Q. How accurate are the GPS positions?
A. GPS positions are accurate to within 10 meters.
Q. Which wireless network does Cloudberry use?
A. TerraTrak uses the national Mobitex network operated by Cingular Interactive data network. The Cingular Intelligent Wireless Network is America's premier two-way wireless data service. The all-digital Mobitex technology is a packet-switched radio technology that provides for a single integrated network that is cellular in design with distributed intelligence. The core network has an open systems architecture that is non-proprietary and supports IP-based mobile data applications. There are currently more than 1,900 base stations deployed nationwide and plans to increase that number to 2,500 by the year 2001.
Q. What is Mobitex?
A. Mobitex is national, open standard, packet-switched, narrowband PCS network, designed for wide-area wireless data communications. The Mobitex network operates in the 900 MHz frequency range. Mobitex networks are operated by service providers such as Cingular Interactive in the United States, Rogers AT&T Wireless in Canada and others in Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America. Mobitex is the de facto international standard for wireless data communications with networks operating in 22 countries. Unlike the more familiar "circuit-switched" networks used in telephones, the Mobitex radio is always "on" and ready to send or receive wireless data. This "always on" feature offers many advantages over circuit-switched networks.
Q. What about wireless coverage?
A. Cloudberry uses the data network operated by Cingular Interactive (formerly BellSouth Wireless Data). The network covers 93 percent of the urban population in the U.S. This consists of 492 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) and non-MSAs with a total population of 200 million people. Base stations are being added in all metropolitan areas served by Cingular Interactive.
Q. Are any permanent data records retained on my desktop PC?
A. No. Cloudberry sends vehicle positions to your desktop PC. No data is saved on your local PC. You can retrieve historical records for replays or printed reports using the Replay Feature as long as these records have been generated within the last 35 days. Cloudberry hosting includes a rolling 35-day data archiving. If you wish to store selected data yourself, you can download daily position reports to your desktop PC.
